John Thompson is the principal of Australian Ceremonies.

John was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1990. After working with Legal Aid Queensland from 1989 to 2003 in Brisbane, Townsville, and various regional centres, John left to pursue his other great passion, music. With his wife and musical partner, Nicole Murray, he has toured internationally since 2003 with their duo, cloudstreet. More recently, he appeared as The Song Man in the Australian production of the National Theatre of Great Britain's War Horse. As a musician, professional and performer, John has over 30 years experience in presenting the richness of individual narratives to audiences of every size.

A long-time believer in the power of ritual to enrich lives, John is a gifted communicator with a special interest in personalised memorial services. He is a registered Marriage Celebrant, authorised to conduct wedding ceremonies by the Australian Attorney-General's Department.

John Thompson was the celebrant for our daughter's lovely wedding at the
National Arboretum in Canberra in April 2015. John helped the couple to
crystallise their thoughts and design a meaningful and moving ceremony
celebrating their wedding. The ceremony was sensitive and joyful, and
struck the perfect tone. Everyone present was very impressed. We would
